Urban development under the influence of large industrial companies in Russia is one of the key trends in modern urbanism. In the context of growing economic and environmental challenges, as well as the global transition to the principles of sustainable development (ESG transformation), the need to study the mechanisms and consequences of interaction between business and the urban environment is becoming particularly relevant. Large industrial companies play a significant role in modernizing urban infrastructure, creating jobs, raising living standards, as well as addressing environmental issues. However, the impact of such companies on urban development remains heterogeneous and requires in-depth scientific analysis. The relevance of the research is determined by the need to design effective urban development strategies based on the socio-economic and environmental impact of large business. Traditional approaches to the classification and management of cities, based primarily on geographical or administrative criteria, do not take into account modern challenges and opportunities associated with the technological maturity of industry, social activity of business and environmental transformation. The hypothesis of the study is that the activities of large companies significantly affect the development of cities in Russia, contributing to their accelerated transformation. The aim of the study is to analyze the impact of large industrial companies on the social, economic and environmental development of cities, as well as to design a methodological approach to forecasting changes in the urban environment. Using a new methodology for grouping cities, which includes parameters of technological maturity, social activity of business and involvement in environmental transformation, the main trends were analyzed. The use of regression analysis made it possible to identify key dependencies between development factors and forecast future changes. Examples of successful transformations in large cities are presented, and support strategies for cities with a low level of development are proposed. The practical significance of the research lies in designing a new methodology for grouping cities and forecasting their development. The results can be used by government authorities and businesses to make managerial decisions aimed at improving the situation in cities
