Abstract   |   Authors   |   References
Some results of the study of territorial development (TD) as a specific type of economic activity are summed up. The concept of TD is interpreted from two positions: the first is the formation and qualitative transformation of territorial economic systems; the second is the economic use of the territory as an economic resource. Both positions distinguish TR from the territorial profile of the national economy and its industries, as well as from the concept of “spatial development”. The subjects of economic relations are shown, each of which solves special problems of development and arrangement of the territory. The research is of a research nature and is considered in the aspect of overcoming the difficulties of including these relationships in the strategic planning system at the level of households, enterprises, municipalities and regions of various sizes. The goal is to outline the problems of territorial-economic relations studied within the framework of economic geography and related scientific disciplines. The methodological aspect of the article is presented in the form of pairing geographical postulates with similar content positions of economic philosophy, evolutionary theory, the doctrine of geosystems, regional sociology, regional economics and the theory of economic mechanism. The presented content of territorial development directly correlates with the tasks of improving territorial planning schemes and development projects for cities and regions
