Abstract   |   Authors   |   References
The article is devoted to the problem of improving information support of territorial economic analysis. The paradox of the dependence of the tasks assigned to analysts on the availability of existing basic information is shown: the analysis is carried out on something that is there, rather than something that is needed. The effectiveness of such analysis for managerial decision-making is questioned. There is a lack of official information on the territories, allocated by non-administrative criteria. The purpose of the study is to identify the problems of information support of territory’s economic analysis. To achieve the purpose, the existing approaches to the definition of the concepts of “territory” and “region” are revealed. We propose to apply the term “territory” in the context of territorial economic analysis, since the concept of “region” has been firmly established in relation to administrative boundaries. The existing approaches of the theory of regional science to the definition of the region as an administrative and territorial unit and socio-economic system, functioning within certain geographical boundaries, are revealed. The problems of information support of territory’s economic analysis from the position of these two approaches are discussed. The process of establishing a regional economy based on the needs of an economic rather than an administrative region is studied. The importance of finding effective ways to collect, summarize and present information about the territory is explained. As a solution to the problems outlined in the article, we propose to develop the concept of integrated reporting territory as an economic region, which involves making decisions taking into account the links within the resources of the territory and with the external environment in the aspect of the vision of the territory’s future. The results obtained can be used in the development of an alternative to statistical reporting, acting as a source of information for the territory’s economic analysis
