The quality of life among the rural population is determined not only by the income level and the trends of its changes, but also by the comfortability of the environment, in general, and the artificial environment, in particular. Rural construction plays a special role in the formation and development of the artificial environment in the rural areas. At the same time, the impact on the environment can be both positive and negative. The article describes the socio-economic and spatial functions of rural construction to form the artificial environment in the rural areas. It analyses the contribution of rural construction to the development of different spheres of artificial environment in the rural areas.
